Standard forex pip value

For most non-JPY forex pairs, one pip is 0.0001. For JPY pairs, one pip is usually 0.01. A standard lot is commonly 100,000 units of the base currency.

Pip value in quote currency = contract size x pip size

Account currency conversion

If your account currency is the same as the quote currency, the value is direct. If not, the pip value needs conversion into the account currency.

Example: EUR/USD in a USD account is direct. EUR/GBP in a USD account needs GBP converted to USD.

Why the web calculator focuses on forex

Forex majors and common crosses have standardized pip sizes and contract sizes. Metals, indices and crypto can vary more between brokers, so the web calculator stays focused on currency pairs.
